The annual James Dean Young Award Dinner unites students, parents, staff, and faculty in the celebration of academic excellence. Brittain fellows are recognized at this event for their pedagogical excellence in three categories: 

• Best WOVEN Communication Project, Individual or Collaborative: Presented to Georgia Tech undergraduate students, an individual or team. 
• Writing and Communication Program Award for Excellence in Pedagogy: Presented to a Brittain Fellow.
• Writing and Communication Program Award for Excellence in Multimodal Communication: Presented to a Brittain Fellow.

Each year, more than 6,000 Georgia Tech undergraduates enroll in courses offered by the Writing and Communication Program (WCP), whose home is in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. These multimodal courses are designed and taught by Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellows. To showcase students’ artistic work created in these classes, the WCP partners with the Office of the Arts to present Student View, an annual juried exhibition. The artwork in Student View epitomizes the provocative synergy of form and content. Student View is displayed at the Ferst Center for the Arts and the Woodruff Arts Center. Selected pieces from Student View are added to the Writing and Communication Program’s permanent student collection displayed in the Stephen C. Hall Building.

These video contributions were on display along with other examples of exceptional student artwork, including posters, paintings and sculptures.

On February 7, 2013, student artwork created in the Institute’s first-year writing and communication courses (English 1101/1102) and other communication-related LMC courses was featured at Georgia Tech Night at the Woodruff Arts Center. To read more about the event, click here.
